We are proud to announce that Darkside Records has officially signed the Italian black/death metal project Antiquus Infestus
ANTIQUS INFESTUS BIO
Formed on July 6, 2011, Antiquus Infestus began as a long-distance collaboration between Sverkel (vocals, lyrics) and Malphas (guitars, drum programming, backing vocals). Their name, Latin for “The Ancient Enemy,” embodies their very essence: chaos in defiance of order.
Originally split between Cesena and Denmark, the band is now based in Prato, Tuscany, and stands as a rising force in the underground European metal scene.
Their music fuses black and death metal, with sonic and thematic inspiration drawn from acts like BEHEMOTH! and Watain, and a lyrical scope that dives deep into religious hysteria, metaphysical decay, divine violence, and ancient mythologies—particularly Egyptian spirituality.

- A sonic descent into chaos, in contrast with the previous theme of Ra and Ma’at
Over time, the band’s sound evolved from raw and aggressive to increasingly refined, layered, and precise. In 2012, Asmodeus joined on bass, solidifying the core trio.
Following the release of Isfet, the band entered a prolonged hiatus… but the ancient enemy has awakened once more.
2025 — THE RETURN
In 2024, Antiquus Infestus began work on their second full-length album, a conceptual and historical piece centered on the Salem witch trials.
Using this dark chapter of history as a metaphor for fear-driven persecution, the album pays solemn tribute to the innocents sacrificed in the name of superstition, dogma, and societal control. It speaks to the cost of ignorance, hysteria, and complicity in the face of injustice.
At the beginning of 2025, Sverkel left the band due to personal and creative differences. Malphas then stepped up to complete all lyrics and record all vocal parts, carrying the vision forward with unrelenting conviction.
This upcoming release is more than music —
it’s a monument of remembrance, a funeral hymn for the forgotten.
