Artist of the Month: Karim Bouazra
This month we shine the spotlight on Karim Bouazra, guitarist, lyricist, and one of the creative architects of the Tunisian progressive metal band LOST INSEN !
Since joining in 2008 alongside his brother Fadhel Bouazra (keyboards), Karim has been at the heart of the band’s evolution—from their beginnings as a Dream Theater cover act (Brainstorming) to becoming one of the most respected progressive metal projects in North Africa.
His contributions? Beyond masterful guitar work, Karim is the pen behind some of the band’s most powerful lyrics, including Dark Passenger, Rain Will Fall, and Freedom, It’s All About...—songs that blend existential questions with emotional depth.
Milestones in Karim’s journey with LOST INSEN:
Shared the stage with Symphony X in 2011.
Released the debut album Here After in 2014, a cult record in the Tunisian metal scene.
Reunited the band in 2024 after a decade-long hiatus, now with new vocalist Marko Balabanovic.
Dropped their comeback single “ONE OF US” in 2025.
Karim’s vision has always been to bring emotion, heaviness, and human depth (Insen = “human” in Arabic) into metal, making LOST INSEN a project that resonates far beyond Tunisia.
This month, we celebrate not just a guitarist, but a visionary artist who helped put Tunisian progressive metal on the map. Karim Bouazra, you are our Artist of the Month!
